Rear Side Member Section - Vehicles With: 5-Door

Removal

NOTICE: The rear side member is made of dual phase (DP) 600 steel and cannot be sectioned. The component must be replaced at the factory joints.

  1. Rough straighten to restore the vehicle to pre-accident dimensions prior to removing any welded components.
    Refer to: Body and Frame (501-26 Body Repairs - Vehicle Specific Information and Tolerance Checks, Description and Operation).
  1. Refer to: Wheel and Tire (204-04A Wheels and Tires, Removal and Installation).
    Refer to: Rear Bumper (501-19 Bumpers, Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the rear wheel splash shield.
  1. General Equipment : Spot Weld Drill Bit

Installation

  1. Metal finish the repair area using typical metal finishing techniques.
  1. Restore corrosion protection.

  1. Material : Seam Sealer / TA-2
  1. Refinish using a Ford approved paint system.
  1. Install the rear wheel splash shield.
