External Controls - Overview

The selector lever cable is clipped onto a ball head on the selector lever. At the transmission the selector lever cable is clipped onto a ball head on the selector shaft lever. The cable is moved in an axial direction by operation of the selector lever. The axial movement is converted into a rotational movement of the selector shaft by the selector shaft lever. The selector lever cable adjuster is located at the transmission end of the cable.

The selector lever with a SelectShift™ switch has the following positions:

In the selector lever position S , the transmission can be manually shifted by operating the SelectShift™ switch which is located on the side of the selector lever. The SelectShift™ switch is hard-wired to the TCM . The upshift or downshift signal is transmitted to the TCM via two wires.

The selector lever can be moved out of the P position only with the ignition switched on, the brake pedal pressed and the parking lock release button pressed.
