The Georgetown Branch: Gallery: Helix Base

11/11/2005 - It's been a long time since I've been able to do some work on the layout and it feels good to get going again! I spent some time brainstorming the base for the Helix and finally decided on the design you see here. I screwed two 1x4's into the studs inside the stairwell area. The Helix base simply sits on thse ledges. Next step is to put the tabletop on, cut the center hole and construct the Helix!
Pics The stairwell area where the helix will go. Here are 2 pieces of the helix in place to see the fit.
Pics I cut all the pieces of the base to fit and laid them out on the floor. Looks good!
Pics Same thing, with the helix pieces on top.
Pics Two 1x4's in place as shelves to hold helix base.
Pics Here it is all assembled and in place! Fit like a charm.
Pics In place with 2 pieces of the helix to check fit... it's just right.
