08/27/2004 Hyannis, MA: Cape Cod Central RR & remains of Old Colony/NH Yard

My "second home" was my Grandparent's house out in Dennisport, MA on Cape Cod. Growing up, I went to Edaville RR at least once every summer. My parents would take me all over the Cape, often to places where the Old Colony RR or NYNH&HRR stretched out towards Provincetown. Once such place is Hyannis. As a child, I was always fascinated by the large roundhouse turned nightclub and all of the open space where a great yard had once been Mid-Cape. In years past I've toured the area and only this year was I able to snap some detailed pics of some equipment as well as some structures in the area. It seems that every year the yard changes; new equipment arrives, old equipment gone, a structure removed, some land developed, more grass growing between the old rails... it goes on. But, as long as the CCC is there and operating, this yard area will no doubt stay where it is. Here is a map showing the location of the yard. Here are some photos from the CCC website of the trains. Here is the CCC website. Here is Pufferbellies website, the current occupants of the ex NH round house.

Two BAR passenger (Baggage?) cars & a CN Diner
It appears that these are reserves for the CCC. Unfortunately, they haven't been properly secured and are filled with beer bottles, mattresses and rubbish. They have also been severly vandalized. It doesn't help that they are sandwiched inbetween two large night clubs.
Looking Southwest, towards the terminus
