System Operation
Roof Opening Panel
The roof opening panel consists of the following components:
The roof opening panel is an electronically operated glass panel that can be opened, closed or vented by the roof opening panel control switch. The roof opening panel operates by using an integrated motor and module. The roof opening panel module receives voltage from the CJB on two circuits. The CJB supplies ignition voltage when the ignition is ON, and battery positive voltage at all times. The roof opening panel switch receives voltage from the roof opening panel module and then supplies voltage signals back to the roof opening panel module to operate the roof opening panel, depending on switch position. The roof opening panel system has a “one-touch” or “express” opening feature fully opening the sliding glass panel and for the vent positions. There is no “one-touch” or “express” close feature.
The shade assembly has no electrical operation, however is designed to be automatically pushed open along with the roof opening panel. The shade assembly can be opened and closed manually with the roof opening panel closed by using the recessed handle to slide forward or backward. The shade assembly can only be closed by manually sliding it forward.
Component Description
Roof Opening Panel Control Switch Operation
To open the roof opening panel, press and release the rear portion of the slide switch and the roof opening panel fully opens automatically using one-touch or express open. The roof opening panel movement can be stopped at any time by pressing the rear portion of the slide switch while the panel is moving. To close the roof opening panel, press and hold the front of the slide switch until the desired position is achieved or the glass panel stops moving.
The roof opening panel must be in the closed position to operate the vent switch. To open the roof opening panel to the vent position, press and release the rear portion of the vent switch and the roof opening panel fully opens to vent automatically using one-touch or express open. The roof opening panel movement can be stopped at any time by pressing the rear portion of the vent switch while the panel is moving. To close the roof opening panel, press and hold the front of the vent switch until the desired position is achieved or the glass panel stops moving.
Roof Opening Panel Motor
The roof opening panel motor (motor/module) is a single speed, reversible motor that contains electronics which control and monitor the roof opening panel movement (for one-touch operating features). The roof opening panel motor does not communicate on the vehicle Controller Area Network (CAN).
The roof opening panel motor must be initialized when repairs are carried out on any part of the roof opening panel system
or when the roof opening panel motor, glass, assembly, or air deflector has been removed or replaced for any reason.
