Coolant Pump

Removal

  1. Refer to: Cooling System Draining and Vacuum Filling (303-03A Engine Cooling - 1.6L Duratec-16V Ti-VCT (88kW/120PS) - Sigma, General Procedures).
  1. Loosen : 2 turn(s)
  1. Remove the following items:
  1. Install Special Service Tool : 303-748 Locking Tool, Crankshaft

  1. NOTICE: Only rotate the crankshaft in a clockwise direction.

    Rotate the crankshaft slowly clockwise until the crankshaft balance weight is up against the Crankshaft TDC Timing Peg. The engine is now at TDC .

    1. NOTICE: Make sure that no strain is placed on the refrigerant lines.

  1. NOTICE: Use a wooden block to protect the oil pan when supporting the engine.

    General Equipment : Trolley Jack
    General Equipment : Wooden Block

  1. NOTICE: Install a new timing belt if the existing belt is contaminated by coolant or oil.

    Refer to: Timing Belt (303-01A Engine - 1.6L Duratec-16V Ti-VCT (88kW/120PS) - Sigma, Removal and Installation).

    1. NOTICE: Only use the specified special tool.

      NOTICE: Make sure that the crankshaft is not rotated while the special tool is installed.

      Install Special Service Tool : 303-1556 Locking Tool, Timing Belt

  1. WARNING: Take extra care when handling the compressed spring.

    Install a small screwdriver or holding pin.

  1. WARNING: Take extra care when handling the compressed spring.

  1. NOTICE: Protect the timing belt and lower cover from contamination by the coolant.

Installation

  1. NOTICE: Make sure that new bolts are installed.

    Torque : 10 Nm

  1. WARNING: Take extra care when handling the compressed spring.

    Torque : 25 Nm
    1. Remove Special Service Tool : 303-1556 Locking Tool, Timing Belt
  1. Remove Special Service Tool : 303-748 Locking Tool, Crankshaft
  1. Torque : 20 Nm
  1. Torque : 10 Nm

  1. NOTE: Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.

  1. NOTE: Only tighten the engine mount stud finger tight at this stage.

  1. Torque : 8 Nm
    1. Torque : 80 Nm

    1. NOTE: Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.

  1. Remove the General Equipment : Trolley Jack
    Remove the General Equipment : Wooden Block
  1. Torque : 48 Nm
  1. Torque : 10 Nm
  1. Refer to: Accessory Drive Belt (303-05A Accessory Drive - 1.6L Duratec-16V Ti-VCT (88kW/120PS) - Sigma, Removal and Installation).
  1. Torque : 24 Nm
  1. Refer to: Cooling System Draining and Vacuum Filling (303-03A Engine Cooling - 1.6L Duratec-16V Ti-VCT (88kW/120PS) - Sigma, General Procedures).
