Removal
NOTICE: Only rotate the crankshaft in a clockwise direction.
Rotate the crankshaft slowly clockwise until the crankshaft balance weight is up against the Crankshaft TDC Timing Peg. The engine is now at TDC .NOTICE: Make sure that no strain is placed on the refrigerant lines.
NOTICE: Use a wooden block to protect the oil pan when supporting the engine.
General Equipment : Trolley JackNOTICE: Install a new timing belt if the existing belt is contaminated by coolant or oil.
Refer to: Timing Belt (303-01A Engine - 1.6L Duratec-16V Ti-VCT (88kW/120PS) - Sigma, Removal and Installation).NOTICE: Only use the specified special tool.
NOTICE: Make sure that the crankshaft is not rotated while the special tool is installed.
Install Special Service Tool : 303-1556 Locking Tool, Timing BeltWARNING: Take extra care when handling the compressed spring.
Install a small screwdriver or holding pin.WARNING: Take extra care when handling the compressed spring.
NOTICE: Protect the timing belt and lower cover from contamination by the coolant.
Installation
NOTICE: Make sure that new bolts are installed.
Torque : 10 NmWARNING: Take extra care when handling the compressed spring.
Torque : 25 NmNOTE: Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.
NOTE: Only tighten the engine mount stud finger tight at this stage.
NOTE: Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.
