Tamiya DD445 Destroyer "Fletcher" 1/350 scale
This kit was purchased with the intent that I would build it and give it to my grandfather who worked in Charlestown Navy Yard, in Boston, MA, from 1940 until the 1970's. He was a shipfitter there. Unfortunately he passed away last month (02/2004) and I never got the chance to give it to him. So it will still be constructed, as a memorial to him, and have a prominent place in my house. Although the "Fletcher" was not built in Charlestown, it is possible that he may have at one point actually worked repairs on this vessel. It is in his honor. |

The kit box. The kit is very nicely laid out, the sprues are clean and the instructions seem to be very nicely produced. I hope to have this kit done by the summer time. |
