Fairfax Stone marker
Full of legend and signifigance, this marks the boundary between WV & MD. The marker is believed to have been set there by a young George Washington, and also marks the beginning of the South Branch of the Potomac River.

The Fairfax Stone
It's located under a tree, in a really neat, quiet area.

The Fairfax stone in its environs
Note the little "stream" beginning from beneath it. Also note the stone "pit" it sits in. One walks down the stairs to get to it.
Another shot of the Historical Marker
Really beautiful setting.
Oakland, MD B&O RR Station
Designed by famous architecht Francis Baldwin and built in 1884. Restored, it's now the local Railroad history museum. The CSX train still passes by here quite frequently. Here is a nice article about the station and its restoration from Maryland.com. Here is some info from Oakland's website. The station is located at 2nd & Liberty Streets, Oakland, MD 21550, (301) 334-1948
Southern end
The restoration crews really went to great effort to get the station back to its original appearance.
