Standing on the edge of Landy Ln., looking North. The tracks embedded in the street are to the old Briggs Filtration plant. The Marriott/Hot Shoppes building is in the center and is now Washington Episcopal School, a private school.

Here is a closeup of the tracks in Landy Ln.

Here you can see where the tracks have been paved over. Cracks on the surface of the blacktop still reveal the further alignment of the tracks below.

Now, looking in the other direction back towards River Rd.

Standing on the track alignment facing the Briggs Filtration plant buildings to the right. Track ran alongside these buildings.

Briggs Filtration Plant buildings. If I had to guess, I'd say that the bricked platforms were once loading docks made of concrete and have simply been covered over w/ brick.

Tracks ran just to the right of the photographer. They termintated just before the gray buildings.

Some more of the Briggs Filtration plant buildings. Addition of the covered walkway and landscaping obscures most of the old buildings.

Standing in the same spot, now facing towards River Rd. Tracks ran right along where the green covered walkway is.

View across the branch (it's running across the center of the photo) of the Auto Body Works.

View NW of the space between the Auto Body Works and what is now a storage warehouse. Tracks ran between the two buildings. * Note: Not sure if the building on the right was in place during the era of the Georgetown Branch - it appears to be very modern. A 1946 Sanborn map denotes two small buildings, a machine shop and a storage structure with the rest of the area as a "contractors yard". The spot where the photographer is standing is where the siding to the Marriott/Hot Shoppes facility passed.

In the mud in front of the photographer one can see the track leading to the Auto Body Works.

The NE side of the Auto Body Works building. It appears to be used as some sort of office building now. Evidence of the loading docks are apparent further down where they have been bricked up with cinder blocks. There are also small metal brackets (guides) still in place on each side of the doors - no doubt for large sliding doors. They are embedded in the wall and prodrude a few inches.

It appears that most of the windows on the lower level have been bricked over. I guess this is for security reasons - it's probably cheaper to brick it up rather than reinforce and secure the old windows. There are three large bricked up openings in this photo - probably the loading docks.

A similar shot. Notice the old green lamp just to the right of the air conditioner.
