The Georgetown Branch - Ben Sullivan
The Georgetown Branch: Gallery: Drop ceiling, episode 3.

04/03/2004 - I got the panels up in the left side of the room. I also did some more spackling & drywall trim around the HVAC ducts. The paneling went up pretty easily. It's a bit of a hassle to get everything to fit, and since my ceiling is already low it was hard to get the panels up into the metal framework. A trick is to leave one brace off (a cross bar) and feed the tile up thru the large area and slide them up over the framework into position. Instead of using a riveter to fasten the cross braces to the side L-brackets I drilled holes and screwed small metal screws in. This worked exceptionally well and is removeable if I like. More work tomorrow.

Here's an overall view of the paneling in place. To the left you will see the unfortunate little gap. This is because the room is jussst over 8' wide. The panels are 2'x4' here. I'm going to put some metal bracing in there and stick tiny slivers of ceiling tile in to fill the void.

A bit more closeup, from the corner to the left. Oooooooooo... drop ceiling.

View from outside the room. Lookin' good. It turned out real nice around the gas meter piping and around the HVAC system.

One more. That large piece of benchwork leaning against the wall there is possibly going to become Georgetown or Bethesda. It's a donation from a friend in my model railroading club, the Maryland Central Model Railroad Club. Check it out!
