The Georgetown Branch: Gallery: Drop ceiling, episode 4. 04/04/2004 - 04-04-04, how do you like that. Well, today my Father-in-law Bruce came over again to lend a hand on the drop ceiling. We managed to basically complete it, with only a few small 2'x2' tiles left to install, which I'll do myself. Bruce was a huge help getting everything to go up and also to troubleshoot various issues. For example, the main "T's" did not fit properly; the series of holes meant to recieve the cross braces did not start at the end, they started about 4" out from one end. Therefore, it was impossible to put in the panels starting from "0". Solution? Flip the "T" around and start from about 1.5' in and cut the panels to fit. Worked like a charm. This is probably a no-brainer for someone who installs this stuff all the time, but for someone who has never done it, it proved to be tricky! Let me say that I'm very glad it's done! |

04_04_04-bsmt_work1.jpg Kind of a tricky area to get a shot of w/o a wide angle lens, but you get the idea. It really looks great. I still have to do the drywall finishing on the area in the top of the photo which covers the HVAC ducts. Those shoplights are going up soon as well, just as soon as I settle on a track plan! I am planning on hanging them from the cross-T's of the drop ceiling w/ wire to supplement/support them. I still need to do some research to see if this is OK. |

04_04_04-bsmt_work4.jpg A closeup of the trim work I have to do. Sand & paint! No biggie. My only gripe about the room now is that the ceiling is pretty low, about 6'9". Yup - pretty low. It's all I got and I'm gonna live with it. |
