The Georgetown Branch - Ben Sullivan
The Georgetown Branch: Gallery: Drop ceiling, episode 5.

04/10/2004 - Did a few more things - took care of some panels by the electrical box. Also sanded and primed the drywall around the HVAC ducts. The room got a good vacuuming too.

The panels along the wall needed to be finished. Because of some Water Heater piping, the leftmost tile was cut down 6". The farthest tile was trimmed to fit around a pipe. I also installed a length of L-bracket above the electrical box.

Here is the drywall around the HVAC ducts. Taped & primed, ready for some more coats. I have about 2 gals of primer leftover from when we moved into our house, so I'm gonna prime it until it looks good! It's actually a project that was started (by a previous homeowner) about 9 years ago when the basement was finished. They never got around to finishing the trim here so it felt good to wrap up that project. Note the tiles in the back of the room are slid back. The leak in the roof still hasn't been repaired so in the meantime (with all the rainy weather) I've moved them back to prevent any more water damage.

Here's the drywall on the other side.

Ok, this is kinda silly, but I wanted to see what the floor looked like if I scrubbed it with a brush & water. The tile on the right is "cleaned" and the left is untouched. The floor is mainly going to be covered w/ carpet, but I think I'll wash it anyway once I finish the painting.

Here's a shot of the ceiling outlet over by the electrical box. The reason I took this is to show how little clearance I have above the ceiling tiles; only about 1". It's tight, but since the ceiling is low to begin with, it's the best I could do. When I mount the "shop" lights, they will be flush with the ceiling tiles, fastened to the cross-t's.
