For the winter, wood boards have been installed to keep out the weather and the fowl. On the North side plastic sheeting has been installed. For reference, here is a BEFORE shot from Chris Coleman's site. The door frame & windows have also been rehabilitated and was painted today. A shot of the finished door appears later.

The shaft had notches in it which actuated a wooden rattle much like an old time policeman's rattle or the wooden rattles used by european sports fans. The box was mounted on the floor of a car next to the clutch pedal and the affair was used as a warning device, just like the electric horn on modern cars which made the klaxon obsolete." Thanks John Webster!
