The last Rockhill Furnace FEBT work session for 2004 (planned). I attended the Sunday session, November 7th.

click for full size image Wide shot of North end of Lumber Shed. Again, repairs are critical for the survival of this structure. You can really get an idea for how bad the damage is.
click for full size image Temporary roof repairs are complete, enough to protect the materials inside for the time being. Let's just hope the structure withstands the upcoming winter.

click for full size image In the winter, when the coal would freeze together, car "knockers" would bang on the car sides with wooden mallets to release the icy coal. Naturally, the cars took a beating and often needed side sheets replaced. Here you can see the pitted car sides from years of knocking.
